What Is the Dental Implant Process?
The dental implant process typically takes 3-6 months from start to finish, allowing time for the implant to fuse with your jawbone. Here's what to expect at each stage:
Consultation & Treatment Planning: Dr. Dounel performs a comprehensive examination including X-rays and 3D imaging to assess your bone structure, plan implant placement, and create your personalized treatment plan.
Implant Placement Surgery: Under local anesthesia (sedation available), the titanium implant post is surgically placed into your jawbone. The procedure typically takes 1-2 hours per implant. You may receive a temporary crown or healing cap.
Osseointegration (Healing Period): Over the next 3-6 months, the implant fuses with your jawbone through a natural process called osseointegration. This creates a strong, permanent foundation for your new tooth.
Abutment Placement: Once the implant has fully integrated, a small connector piece called an abutment is attached to the implant. This will hold your final crown in place.
Crown Placement: Finally, your custom-made porcelain crown is attached to the abutment. The crown is designed to match your natural teeth perfectly in color, shape, and size for a beautiful, natural-looking result.
